Is No Milk The Answer?

Since we came home with Emily she has been experiencing many bowel movements a day. After a day of 6 "poopy" diaper changes (sorry for exposing you, Emily) I consulted a few "seasoned" moms. I decided to take their advise of holding back the milk she has been drinking. At first I was leary to not give Emily the milk as this is all she accepted to drink other than room temperature tea. And she was not experiencing any noticable belly aches. But-today without milk proved to give us only 2 "poopy" diapers, which were in the morning-and it may not be connected, but, she did not cry herself to sleep for her nap or at nighttime-she just slightly whimpered herself to sleep while snuggling with her glow bug that her big sissy, Hannah gave to her. Hmmmmm..... Could no milk really be the answer? Tomorrow is another day!!! The jury is still out. In the meantime-I guess we are back to room temperature tea. At least we have decaf tea in USA-our guide in China laughed at us when we asked for the decaff tea!!!

  1. Hey, my Cam couldn't have milk. We actually used potato milk because it was all he would drink. It tastes a lot like regular milk, but it is pricey and hard to find. You can order it on line. Just a thought if you want something besides tea. The potato milk does have calcium and all that stuff, but no fats. Good luck with the experiment! Shan

  2. Our daughter could not take milk either. I have heard that there are many Chinese children who have a hard time with milk. Best of luck to you! She is sooooo adorable!

  3. Our Leah had trouble with milk as well. We put her on soy milk but I am not a fan of it. When she had a diaper change, NO ONE wanted to be around...pretty nasty.

I will stay tuned for the repeat experiment.

  4. Maiya wasn't so good with milk at first either, and she really didn't want much to do with it. When we got home we picked up some rice milk and that did the trick. Then I started cutting in 2% milk little by little, and now she's on straight milk -- still 2%. While we were in China she didn't want formula, milk, or juice -- she only drank water.

It's so wonderful to see how well Emily is doing! Hannah and her look to already be best of friend. Makes me want to go back and start over again ; )
